Aster Tekstil Invests in Serbia

Serbia, as the new investment center, increases it appeal for textile and garment manufacturers. While many important brands boost its market share by opening new shops in Serbia, it is also seen that manufacturing sites are relocated to this area. One of the brands that decided to invest in this area is womenswear, manswear, and kidswear producer Aster Tekstil. Formed in 1993, the company acquired an export-oriented, fast growth in garment sector.

Aster Tekstil is establishing an new facility in Nis on the south of Serbia with 7.2 million Euros investment of which 2 million Euros is state aid. Planned to be opened on September 2016, the facility will have womenswear, manswear and kidswear production. Aster Tekstil’s facility will provide employment opportunity for 250 people at first step.

Stating that the number of employment opportunity will have reached 2 thousand in 3 years, Aster Tekstil Chairman of the Board İsmail Koçali announced that the company achieved 70 million Euro turnover yearly. Expressing that nearly half of the turnover is acquired from the productions made for British brands, Koçali reminded the fact that the firm created its own womenswear brand War The Robe in previous years. This brand opened its first shop in Westbourne Grove, London in 2014.

Serbia is the New Favourite for Investments

The first Turkish company made investment in Serbia was Jeanci Tekstil. The investment which took place in Leskovac city, acquired a total budget more than 10 million Euros. Reaching an employment number more than one thousand people, the firm also opened a manufacturing site in Krupang city.

After that, many Turkish firms followed Jeanci Tekstil and entered into the process of making investments in Serbia. The investors draw attention to the convenience of Serbia’s investment requirements and the advantages brought by  marketing opportunities.
