Itema Prospers in an Instable Market
Itema Prospers in an Instable Market

Itema prospers in an instable market. Itema seems satisfied with 2017 half year market results due to their undisputed position in every market with three weaving technologies under their name.

Having a strong voice with cutting-edge rapier, airjet and projectile weaving solutions both in Turkey and global markets Itema continuously steps up by being the technology representative of long-established Italian textile tradition. With more than 300 thousand machines in more than 100 countries Itema emphasizes sales and marketing for the Turkish textile market.

ITEMA CEO Carlo Rogora points to the instability of the market while he was talking about the history of weaving industry and the demand on better technology; “Itema is a key player of the weaving machinery industry since long time – in 2017 the Italian Company celebrates the 50 years anniversary of Somet foundation, ndr – and we know very well that we operate in a market characterized by high levels of instability. The political, economic, financial aspects impact on our Customers’ activities. The weaving machinery market is therefore known to be exposed to unexpected stops and upturns.”

Turkish weavers continues to invest in ITEMA

2017 is undoubtedly acting as a year of growth, following the positive track of 2016 according to Carlo Rogora, expectations were not only met but were exceeded, with some highlights to countries such as Iran and Italy. About Turkish textile industry Rogora said; “In this landscape Turkey deserves a special mention, since starting from April the investments in advanced weaving machines have been constant and remarkable, ranging in variuos applications such as cotton apparel, denim, furnishings and terry cloth.”

Rogora’s prediction for 2017 is that this year will end showing a growth compared to previous year and this applies to worldwide weaving industry, including Turkey. He continued as; “Turkish market is active and in good health, investing in modern equipment and infrastructure despite the instability of the Region. We are seeing important investments in all the Country; with special results in the traditional textile areas located in Bursa, Denizli and Kahramanmaraş. Our goals will be more than achieved, and this is certainly good for our Company; however – let me underline – what is significant and worth to mention is the attitude of the Turkish weavers, since from the smallest to the largest weaver the investments in advanced technology are continuously increasing giving to the textile sector in Turkey the possibility to compete at the highest levels in the worldwide market.”

The global economic situation shows a rise in consumption of textiles, which generates more demand for fabric producers says Carlo Rogora. Furthermore he describes the investment trend as; “weavers based in countries where governments actuated consistent financing programs for renewal of machinery; and plant modernization were able to invest and upgrade their equipment to answer faster; and better to market trends and requirements.”

ITEMA Focuses in RD developments

Rogora imparts that Italy Bergamo based Itema is constantly investing to further enhance the weaving experience of its customers. He underlines that they are the only weaving machines supplier to have two R&D departments. Rogora; “one of the R&D department is exclusively dedicated to development of existing machines. The other one named ItemaLab is exclusively focusing on entirely new ideas and developing breakthrough weaving innovations. Concentrating on our engineer’s daily activity on existing products; we can summarize the focus areas in three main sectors; machine performance, cost savings, user-friendliness.”

Focusing on acquisitions as well as sales in 2017; Itema has finalized the agreements to acquire 61% of shares in Lamiflex; leading supplier of technical composite products, and a minority stake in NoeCha; provider of high-tech, wide-format printing solutions.

Itema especially provides new generation rapier and airjet machines to the Turkish Market; through their well-established representatives Bilol and Alfredo Modiano. Airjet weaving machine A9500 and rapier weaving machine R9500; provides Turkish fabric manufacturers an opportunity to work with a flexible, efficient and large product range.
