One of the biggest 500 firms of Turkey, iSKUR Group started a new investment for garment and knitting manufacturing in Diyarbakır after the yarn investment it had made in the region.
One of the leading integrated textile manufacturers of Turkey, İSKUR GROUP continues to make wide range investments. Carrying out finishing, dye and garment process in its own hosting aside from a wide range of yarn, weaving and knitting fabric kinds, Kahramanmaraş-based group took the production after completing its yarn investment in Diyarbakır. Ranked among Turkey’s biggest 500 firms, Group now preferred Diyarbakır again for its 10 million dollars of worth garment and knitting investment.
Carrying out its corporate structure and manufacturing process in Kahramanmaraş, İSKUR Group’s first investment operation in Diyarbakır began in 2013. The constructon of 31.200 squaremeters closed facility on 50 thousand squaremeters land in Diyarbakır OSB 1st stage, was completed in August of 2014. This investment which costed 100 million TL, contributes greatly İSKUR’s power in the market. Group is manufacturing 100% cotton ring, combed cotton and compact yarn in this facility. Having 30 tons of daily manufacturing capacity, this investment carries on its 100% capacity production. Diyarbakır yarn facility consumes 15 tons of raw cotton yearly and possesses 10 thousand yarn manufacturing capacity.
İSKUR ‘s 2nd Wave Investment Attempt to Diyarbakır
One of the exceptional manufacturers in textile sector possessing integrated manufacturing capacity, İSKUR expands its new investment attempt in Diyarbakır to garment and knitting segments. Giving information about their new investment, İSKUR Group Board Chairman A.Kadir Kurtul expressed that they focused on garment and knitting segment as well as the investment aiming enlarging the yarn facility’s capacity in Diyarbakır. Kurtul explained that these investments would be made with over 100 million dollars amount and they planned it to provide employment to 1700 people.
Kurtul also explained the reason why they chose Diyarbakır OSB for the investments thusly; “Our raw cotton trade tracing back to 50 years ago, formed and improved friendships; the raw material and labor force in this region had an impact on our decision. Apart from these, of course the the advantages that public provides became determinant, too. In terms of location, transport facilities of the city; its being a center of the region, its suitability for cotton agriculture climatologically; and textile industry provide advantages.” Kadir Kurtul stated that they preferred Europe or Far East; based current systems with high competitive capacity, advanced technology; since they focus on raw fibre in Diyarbakır investment. Kurtul said that they planned to adopt this kind of technology for their new investments as well.

Expressing that İSKUR Group’s new garment and knitting investment would be based in Diyarbakır OSB’s 3rd stage; and the Textile Specialization OSB region that would be constructed soon; Kadir Kurtul stated that the construction would be completed in 2-3 years. Kurtul said; “As a result of these investments; as İSKUR we will be manufacturing all the product ranges in the sector completely with high quality and capacity. In sectoral base this investments will increase our competition capacity; and broadly contribute greatly to our company to become a world brand. ”
2016 was Full of Investments
Making evaluations for the last year, A. Kadir Kurtul stated that 2016 was a period of Diyarbakır investment’s maturement and transition to manufacturing of new 60 million dollars denim investment in Kahramanmaraş. Defining 2016 as a ‘period full of excitement and attempts’ Kurtul expressed thusly; “In addition to reaching our product portfolio, efficiency, quality and sectoral-orinted micro and macro goals, we determined new goals in 2017 to take this a step further. ”
Expressing their expectations for 2017 as well; Kurtul explained that they expect a volumetrical increase in the market; with both the Research and Development and Production and Development-oriented manufacturings and investments in Kahramanmaraş and Diyarbakır. Emphasizing that they export more than 75% of their productions; Kurtul added that 2017 would be a period full of attempts for market and investments.
