MOSFED<\/a>, the umbrella organization of the furniture industry, listened to the problems, expectations and future trends of the sector<\/a> first hand with the survey study carried out among their members. According to the results of the survey, in which the members of the federation and manufacturer companies participated intensively, the most important problem of the sector was announced as raw material costs. While other problems were respectively determined as qualified human resources and tax practices; unfair competition, counterfeit products, accreditation of illegal workers were among the other issues of the sector. The survey also shed light on the demands and expectations of the industry, revealing that the industry primarily expects support from the public in terms of access to raw materials, facilitating stable raw material supply, R&D support, allocation of space and export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe furniture sector is extremely important to the Turkish economy\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

MOSFED President Ahmet G\u00fcle\u00e7 evaluated the results of the survey and said that the sector is at an extremely important point for the Turkish economy with its production, employment and export figures. G\u00fcle\u00e7 stated that today, along with 36 thousand producers directly and 250 thousand indirectly, they employ 500 thousand people and continued his words as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith our 10 billion dollars production capacity, we export more than 4 billion dollars annually. We were able to reach all these successful data despite the increase in raw material costs, tax applications, and qualified human resources problems. We think that the public should be more involved in solving sector problems in order to increase our sector figures and our added value to the country day by day. Thus, we can reach our year-end, 2023 and global targets more consistently\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reminding that global furniture giants have decided to increase their production in Turkey, Ahmet G\u00fcle\u00e7 stated that this decision is an extremely valuable opportunity for the furniture industry. G\u00fcle\u00e7 made the following statements regarding the sector; \u201cWe are in an extremely strong position in the world in terms of design, quality, production and capacity. We can increase the advantage we provide to global manufacturers and turn our country into the furniture production centre of the world with the additional support and incentives that the public will provide to our industry in this period. In this sense, our industry expects support and incentives from the public primarily on raw materials, R&D, space allocation, exports, building and machinery investments.
