British fashion designer and one of the pioneers of sustainable fashion, Stella McCartney<\/a> made statements about sustainability studies in the session titled “Future of Fashion: An innovation conversation with Stella McCartney” with her brand\u2019s business partners<\/a> S\u00d6KTA\u015e, Evrnu and Bolt Threads. In the session held at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow, Scotland, S\u00d6KTA\u015e shared the details of their regenerative cotton <\/a>production project. Among the audience were the Prince of Wales Charles, Former US Vice President Al Gore, Alphabet Inc. and Google Finance Manager Ruth Porat, as well as American Actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio, British actress, model and activist Emma Watson, and Emerson Collective founder Laurene Powell Jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u00d6KTA\u015e aims to preserve the richness of soils and reduce water consumption with this project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

S\u00d6KTA\u015e Deputy General Manager Baran Kayhan shared the details of the regenerative cotton farming that they have been using for 3 years in cotton production in S\u00f6ke Plain. Kayhan stated that as S\u00d6KTA\u015e, they are making efforts to use natural resources efficiently in the production process and that they have started the production of regenerative cotton, a new sustainable product. Explaining that the main purpose of the project is to preserve the richness of the soil and reduce water consumption, Kayhan said that the interest in regenerative cotton has increased in terms of its environmental impact and that this awareness is important for the future of our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working with the United Nations for sustainable fashion, Stella McCartney underlined that everyone, especially the leaders, should take responsibility for this issue. Announcing the sustainability efforts of important suppliers such as S\u00d6KTA\u015e, Evrnu and Bolt Threads, McCartney pointed out that fashion companies not just consist of themselves, but are responsible for the entire supply chain as a whole. McCartney commented on the sustainable future as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is the Decisive Decade and if we do not act decisively, we know the consequences. A football pitch is disappearing from the Amazon every minute and 80 percent of that area is being used for animal agriculture. The future of fashion and our planet is vegan\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the materials exhibited by the famous fashion designer Stella McCartney in the foyer of the meeting, Bolt Threads’ pieces made of mycelium (a part of the fungus), the world’s first vegan boots created in collaboration with Paul Pogba and Adidas, regenerative cotton of S\u00d6KTA\u015e, and Evrnu NuCycl and Econyl regenerated nylon sourced from post-consumer waste and ocean plastics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
