In parallel with the recent trend of many Turkish textile companies shifting their production to Egypt, the country has stood out in T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s export<\/a> figures over the past two years. According to the export performance report published by \u0130TH\u0130B<\/a>, exports to Egypt increased by 34% in value terms in 2024 compared with the previous year, while in 2025 this rate stood at 23, once again making Egypt the fastest-growing market for the textile industry. Exports to Egypt, which amounted to $461 million in 2024, rose to $567 million in 2025. During this period, exports of woven fabrics to Egypt increased by up to 50%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Turkish textile and apparel industry recorded a 4.6% decline in exports in 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, exports of textiles and raw materials declined by 0.8% year on year to $11.386 billion. Apparel and garment exports fell by 7.3% to $14.445 billion. When the textile and apparel industry is considered as a whole, total exports declined by 4.6% to $25.83 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared with the previous year, the largest increase in textile exports in 2025 was recorded in April at 9.6%, while the sharpest decline was seen in November at 12.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, the Turkish textile industry exported approximately $4.586 billion to European Union (EU) countries, its largest export market, marking a 2% decrease. Exports to African countries, which ranked second after the EU, rose by 14% to reach $1.549 billion. Exports to the Former Eastern Bloc countries, ranking third, declined by 12.3% to $1.372 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n

In volume terms, textile exports to EU countries fell by 3%. During this period, exports to the EU totalled 1 million tonnes. Exports to African countries increased by 15.3% in volume terms to 397,000 tonnes, while Middle Eastern countries ranked third. Textile exports to the Middle East rose by 11.4% in 2025 to 329,000 tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2025, exports to the Americas recorded a notable increase compared with the same month a year earlier, both in value and volume terms. During this period, exports rose by 25% in value terms and by 32% in volume terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past year, the countries receiving the highest textile exports in value terms were Italy, up 0.8%; the US, up 1.7%; Germany, down 7%; Egypt, up 23%; and Spain, up 6%. Belarus, ranking eighth, recorded the steepest decline at 14.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical textiles, woven fabrics and threads stood out in exports in 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last year, technical textiles were the leading product group in T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s textile industry in terms of export value. Exports of technical textiles rose by 3% to $2.372 billion. The main destinations for technical textile exports were the US, Germany and Italy. Morocco recorded the strongest growth within this product group, at 43%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exports of woven fabrics, ranking second, remained broadly stable with a slight increase of 0.34%, reaching $2.303 billion. Spain, Morocco and Egypt stood out as the leading markets for woven fabric exports, with the strongest growth recorded in Egypt at 49%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Threads, the third-largest product group by export value, also remained broadly stable, posting a slight increase of 0.2%. In 2025, thread exports amounted to $2.207 billion, with Italy, Egypt and Portugal ranking as T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s top three markets for threads. Spain recorded the highest growth in this category, at 41%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top three product groups were followed by home textiles (-2.8%), knitted fabrics (-9.6%), fibres (-0.7%) and apparel sub-industry (-1.2%), respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
