Garanti BBVA hosted a major event in collaboration with the Ivy Decarb Marketplace to support the acceleration of sustainable transformation in Türkiye’s textile and apparel sector, one of the country’s most important export industries. The event gathered representatives from TEMSAD, İHKİB, İTHİB, TİM, local manufacturers, and European brands to discuss the role of finance and technology in transitioning to low-carbon production. As a participating financial institution on the platform, the bank will support companies in achieving their decarbonization targets.

Garanti BBVA will be listed among the banks providing financing for machinery and equipment purchases on the Ivy Decarb platform. Companies choosing Garanti BBVA through the platform will be able to access credit digitally. Firms that are not yet bank customers can also quickly and easily register online. Those unable to complete the process digitally can contact the bank via the communication channels listed on Garanti BBVA’s website.

Environmental impacts of investments and carbon reduction plans can be transparently monitored by companies through the Ivy platform. The largely digital management of processes offers speed and accessibility advantages to businesses.

“Sustainability is no longer just an environmental issue—it is business itself”

Speaking at the opening of the event, Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten emphasized that sustainable finance is critical not only for environmental goals but also for economic development. Akten stated: “Transitioning to a low-carbon economy and accelerating sustainable transformation in the industrial sectors is essential not only to achieve environmental objectives but also to secure long-term competitiveness. Today, we know that sustainability is no longer just an environmental issue—it is business itself. It is clear that meaningful and lasting transformation cannot occur without a solid financial infrastructure. That is why we have placed sustainable finance at the core of Garanti BBVA’s strategy. We completed our commitment to provide 400 billion TRY in sustainable finance between 2018–2025 in early 2025, and have now set an expanded target of 3.5 trillion TRY for 2018–2029. We will continue to support Turkish textile companies in implementing decarbonization plans and maintaining their competitive edge with this financial capacity.”
