Laleli Targets $3 Billion with “Micro Export” Application

Laleli used to be remembered in the past with sales processes, namely ‘luggage trade particularly with Russia and Eastern European countries. Now, it has positive expectations for the revival of trade in the region. Laleli Industrialists and Businessmen Association (LASİAD) President Gıyasettin Eyyüpkoca made statements on the topic. He noted;  “Starting from July, the first stage of the micro-export application could contribute $2.5-3 billion in exports. In the following process, Laleli will be the home of export champions.”

“A new era kicked off ‘micro-export’ application in Laleli as the location is among the most important gateways of Istanbul and even Turkey to the global trade. The region exports, which have been billed through cargo companies for years, will now become largely registered. Our tradesmen will be able to benefit from many advantages including VAT refund and government incentives since they will officially become exporters,” Eyyüpkoca mentioned.

Eyyüpkoca reminded that the exports made by the firms in the region were classified under the name of goods with passengers for years but were not seen as exports. Thanks to the arrangement of the communique, Laleli artisans are now micro exporters with the export warehouse method. Eyyüpkoca said that they expect 50% of the 7 thousand enterprises in the region to benefit from this application in the first place. He underlined that export warehouses will make a significant contribution to the region perception and the regional trade; and thanked those who contributed to the preparation of the new communique.

Gıyasettin Eyyüpkoca made evaluations about the market; “Problems in neighboring countries as well as the trade war between the US-Russia and China also affected sales negatively. Eyyüpkoca argues that Iran is an essential market for melting off-season end product stocks and sanctions towards Iran affects many regions; especially Laleli, Merter and Osmanbey.

Laleli Fashion Festival will welcome 250 buyers from 12 countries

Around 7 thousand artisans trade in Laleli; while 250 buyers from 12 countries are expected to visit Turkey and attend Laleli Fashion Shopping Festival; which will be held on 5-9 August. Eyyüpkoca gave the following information about the event; “This year, around 40 ready-to-wear companies will set up stands for the festival. We will accommodate 250 buyers, each with a minimum of 10 stores in a large number of countries. Our companies and guests will have the opportunity to make B2B meetings as well as commercial contacts during the festival. ”
