Mimaki Is Running Towards A Successful Future With A Strong Past

Having a strong position in Turkish digital printing market as well as the global market, Mimaki explained their secret to success from past to present with an editor’s meeting.

Mimaki, a leading brand in digital printing technologies, told the editors what’s behind their technological superiority and innovative position in the market. Mimaki Eurasia General Manager Arjen Evertse, Marketing and Communication Specialist Rana Seyyar, Regional Sales Manager Burak Kaftanoğlu and Technical Support Supervisor Onur Çalhanoğlu have shown details about the company with different presentations in the ‘Editors Meet Mimaki’ event organized at Mimaki Eurasia’s showroom in İstanbul central office.

Arjen Evertse shared important information about Mimaki’s historical roots and development in the market in his opening speech. Evertse reminded that Mimaki was founded in Japan in 1975, and stated that the firm was trading on the 1st page of the Tokyo stock exchange. Evertse mentioned that Mimaki has opened many offices around the world in order to be closer to its users especially in the last 10 years and to increase the quality of service further; “Besides the main headquarters in Japan we have subsidiaries in the EMEA region; Netherlands, France, Germany, Lithuania, Italy and in Turkey. We are also involved in overseas territories such as the US, China, Taiwan, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia.”

Evertse stated that Mimaki’s global activities focus on 4 markets altogether with the 3D printing sector; “Among the sectors we serve, advertising has a 47.6% share, while industrial has 30.6% and textile has 11.2%. The biggest sales figures for Mimaki come from the advertising sector.”

While describing the establishment process of Mimaki Eurasia – a 100% Mimaki company – Arjen Evertse said; “Turkey is a very important market for Mimaki. For this reason, Mimaki Europe Istanbul Tech Center was founded in 2013. Mimaki Eurasia has been established in Istanbul in April 2016 in order to serve the Eurasian region directly. Our company has sales, marketing, operations, technical support and accounting departments. The Mimaki Eurasia sectoral shares based on the global market is showing some differences specific to Turkish market. For example, while our textile market share is 11% globally, our share in Turkey is 37,1%. Likewise, our share was 30% globally for the industrial sector, and it was 32.7% in Turkey. The share of the advertising sector in Turkey was recorded as 30.2%”.

Evertse stated that first Experience Center was opened in Ankara, and noted that they would create a regional network of Experience Centers across Turkey. Evertse; “The work we have accomplished has made an important contribution to our market power. Our growth rate in 2017 was 166% compared to the previous year and 125% in the first half of 2018. According to the data of Q4 2017, Mimaki Eurasia’s market share was 26% in the Turkish market”.

Mimaki Eurasia Marketing and Communication Specialist Rana Seyyar said that Mimaki is emphasizing the Mimaki experience to their users with their new slogan ‘Join the Experiences’. Mimaki is focusing in pioneering and complementary solutions

Mimaki Eurasia Regional Sales Manager Burak Kaftanoğlu talked about Mimaki’s pioneering and complementary solutions. Indicating that Mimaki is serving in advertising, textile, industrial and 3D printing sectors, Kaftanoğlu gave information about the innovative 3DUJ-553 in the 3D segment. Kaftanoğlu stated that this 3D printer brings a new breath to the sector, and emphasized that the machine is unique in the market with its features. Kaftanoğlu noted the outstanding features of 3DUJ-553 as follows; “It has a full color combination of over 10 million colors. It provides full color 3D printing with LED UV. High quality 3D printing is possible with Mimaki technology. Transparent paint creates transparent objects. In addition, the water-soluble support material makes it possible to have even the slightest details without a clear damage. We will show a wide range of 3D printing possibilities in our Experience Centers.”

Kaftanoğlu highlighted another product, Tiger-1800Mkll, which was developed for textile printing. Kaftanoğlu stated that this machine was developed to meet the demands of industrial textile printing, and said that Mimaki started the process by buying La Meccanica company. This machine reduces printing cost per unit and first sale for Turkish market has already been held. Kaftanoğlu expressed that industrial printing speed and quality demands are met with print speeds of 385m2 per hour. Kaftanoğlu added that users are in demand for pre-processing and final processing of the prints, and said that Rimslow has been purchased for new solutions.

“With technical support, we ensure the production continuity of the machines”

Mimaki Eurasia Technical Service Supervisor Onur Çalhanoğlu said that they adopted a user-oriented and technological approach. Çalhanoğlu said that Mimaki Eurasia has been serving with 7 authorized dealers in 3 different segments and that these dealers have provided production continuity of more than 3 thousand machines that have been installed in the field.

Stating that the fact that the dealers are directly connected to Mimaki provides many advantages for the users, Çalhanoğlu continued his words as follows; “Reliable and fast support is provided. Warranty processes are managed quickly. Updates and improvements are communicated to end users on time. We collect feedback on the product quickly and accurately. We share the reports with our centers in Japan and Amsterdam. These are very important for the improvements and development of the products.” Çalhanoğlu expressed that they created the Intelligent Support System (ISS) with a user-focused technical support approach and explained that series based data of the machines were collected and analysed very quickly.

Indicating their technical support is in Turkish for the Turkish market, Çalhanoğlu; “Operators and investors have different levels of English knowledge. In order to avoid any problems that may arise from this; we provide the utmost efficiency by offering them machines that speaks their native language. We support machine installation support for end users and periodically check installations.”
