Aegean exporters from different industries from apparel and metal to agriculture brought Turkish products together with Chinese importers at the China Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo. 2025 China Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo was opened on June 26 with the theme of “Advancing Eurasian Cooperation, Sharing Silk Road Prosperity” at Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center with the speeches of Autonomous Region Party Secretary Ma Xingrui and Autonomous Region Governor Erkin Tuniyaz.  

The opening ceremony was also attended by Atakan Özdemir, Chief Commercial Counselor in Beijing, Yalçın Ertan, Deputy Coordinating Chairman of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and President of the Aegean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association, and Burak Sertbaş, President of the Aegean Apparel Association. After the opening speeches, the event ended with the protocol’s visit to the exhibition areas and the exhibition was opened to visitors.

More than 2800 domestic and foreign exhibitors took part in the exhibition. Within the scope of the National Participation Organization held by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, BSA Professional Management Services, Oba Global Logistics, Kırlıoğlu Tarım companies, as well as Aegean Agricultural Associations, Aegean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association and Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association info booths were met with intense visitor interest. 

Aegean Exporters’ Associations, which increased its exports to China from 302 million dollars to 465 million dollars with an increase of 54 percent in 2024, is intensifying its marketing activities in China to increase its exports to China over 1 billion dollars in the next 3 years. 

Sertbaş; “We aim to increase our market diversity and strengthen our trade relations with China in the field of apparel” 

Burak Sertbaş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Apparel Association, emphasized that it has become inevitable to turn to new markets due to the economic contraction in Europe, the main export market of the apparel industry, saying: “In this direction, we aim to increase our market diversity and strengthen our trade relations with China in the field of apparel. This is the main purpose of our presence here. Our aim is to get to know the Chinese market more closely and establish strong commercial partnerships with countries outside the European Union in the long term.” 

Özdemir; “Foreign trade between Türkiye and China is approaching 50 billion dollars” 

Atakan Özdemir, Chief Commercial Counselor in Beijing, spoke at the meeting held on the second day of the exhibition and emphasized the strengthening economic cooperation between China and Türkiye, drawing attention to the trade volume with China approaching USD 50 billion and Türkiye’s exports of high value-added products. 

Stating that trade and investment relations between China and Türkiye have reached new heights, reflecting their mutual commitment to deepen economic cooperation, he said: “Our bilateral trade, which is almost USD 50 billion, continues to flourish with Türkiye not only exporting raw materials or minerals to China, but also exporting high value-added products such as machinery, automotive parts and textiles, while importing advanced technology and industrial equipment. This trade highlights the complementary nature of our economies and the great potential for further growth.” 

Özdemir emphasized that this year, Türkiye’s participation in the exhibition was stronger than ever and continued: “Turkish companies from various sectors showcase their products and services, demonstrating the diversity and strength of our export capacity. This expanded presence reflects our strong commitment to strengthening ties with Xinjiang and the wider Chinese market.” 

EIB’s third national participation organization in China will be the China International Import Expo in Shanghai on 5-10 November 2025.
