Italian Machinery Manufacturers’ Secret to Success; Innovation and Tradition

Italian machinery manufacturers’ secret to success; innovation and tradition. Around 360 Italian textile machinery manufacturers and solution providers will participate in ITMA 2019. ACIMIT, the roof organization of the sector, will both support its members and play an active role in the industry’s know-how sharing.

Italian textile machinery manufactures are preparing for the upcoming ITMA 2019. Italian machinery manufacturers and solution manufacturers, who have always participated in ITMA fairs, will take part in the fair in line with their global goals. The Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (ACIMIT) has been working as a roof organization for the industry and as a member of CEMATEX, the owner of ITMA fairs.

ACIMIT President Alessandro Zucchi, in his statement to the Textilegence, both gave information about the preparation towards the ITMA, as well as providing assessment about Turkish market. Recognizing ITMA as “the main international trade fair for textile machinery,” Zucchi pointed out that this fair was always considered an important platform for Italian machinery manufacturers. Zucchi; “The majority of companies will make the most of this global stage to propose significant technology innovations. As for previous editions, Italy will be among the Countries with the largest representation of exhibitors (around 360 companies)”.

Referring to the profile and product portfolio of the participating companies, Zucchi said that Italian machine manufacturers have comprehensive solutions to serve the entire textile industry. Zucchi continued his words as follows; “Italian exhibitors certainly reflect a composite percentage of Italy’s textile machinery industry. We have a strong contingent of finishing and printing machinery producers, and a significant participation of machinery manufacturers in the spinning sector”.

ACIMIT Green Label Award at ITMA 2019

Saying that 2018 was a period in which production and sales decreased in general, Zucchi argued that the ITMA Barcelona, which will be held from 20 to 26 June, could offer a very good opportunity for the industry to revive.

Alessandro Zucchi reminded that ACIMIT is carrying out studies regarding the member firms’ marketing and need to obtain information about the export markets, and said that they provide support to all members both before and at the field. Zucchi announced that they will take part to provide organizational and promotional support and will hold the traditional press conference at ITMA 2019. Zucchi; “Works of member companies and innovations will be presented in the conference where ACIMIT will be presenting the winners of the ACIMIT Green Label Award, rewarding those Italian member companies who over recent years have reduced the carbon footprint of their machinery”.

Indicating the key concepts in the success of Italian machinery manufacturers as ‘innovation and tradition’; Zucchi said that they are focused on technological innovation and on the know-how deriving from a strong tradition in Italy’s textile supply chain. Zucchi said about the competitive power of Italian machinery; “Flexible and versatile machinery born out of the creativity of our entrepreneurs; that’s the winning formula for ‘Made in Italy’ in the textile machinery sector; and these characteristics are even more essential in beating the competition; especially at moments in which the market appears to be in trouble”.

Target markets diversify

Pointing out that China, Turkey and India maintained their importance as reference markets for Italian textile machinery manufacturers; Alessandro Zucchi also said that they identified Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam as target markets. In addition to these traditional Asian markets, Zucchi added that the Sub-Saharan Africa has a great potential recently.

Italian machinery manufacturers’ secret to success; innovation and tradition. Machine sales in Turkey machine increased by 8% in 2018

Emphasizing that Turkey is always an important market for Italian machinery manufacturers; Alessandro Zucchi relayed that exports to this market increased by 8% to 208 million euros in 2018. Zucchi gave the following information; “The Italian machinery in greatest demand on the Turkish market include spinning machinery (27% of total Italian exports to Turkey); alongside finishing and knitwear machinery (both with a 23% share)”.

Mentioning that the fluctuation experienced in Turkish economy in 2019 will affect machine sales, Zucchi said; “2019 will likely be marked by a reduction in the demand for machinery and investments in the textile sector; but we’re confident that the Turkish market will remain among the primary trade destinations for Italy’s machinery manufacturers”.

ACIMIT represents the Italian textile machinery industry; which constitutes from around 300 companies employing 12,000 people and exports approximately 84% of its production. Italian machinery manufacturers produce around 2.5 billion euros of high-tech machinery per year. ACIMIT is carrying out national and international studies to share information within the industry; solve sectoral problems and grow the industry. Italian machines are promoted internationally as having sustainable technology, and being creative, reliable and high quality.
