MAKFED and İSO came together with textile machinery manufacturers; In 2018, the Turkish textile industry, which imports machinery worth 1.9 billion dollars against the export of 750 million dollars of textile machinery, is increasing its attempts to benefit from local resources.
Representatives of the textile and textile machinery sector attended the meeting, hosted by Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), under the leadership of the Turkish Machinery Federation (MAKFED). Machine manufacturers consisting of management and members, and the executives of textile industry sector organizations such as Textile Machinery and Accessories Industrialists Association (TEMSAD), Turkish Clothing Manufacturers’ Association (TGSD), Turkish Textile Employers’ Association (TTSİS), İTHİB, İHKİB, Turkish Textile and Finishing Industrialists Association (TTTSD), Textile Committee of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and officials from leading textile companies took part in the meeting managed by MAKFED President and Deputy Chairman of ISO Adnan Dalgakıran. The meeting was held in order to improve sectoral cooperation and to accelerate the work of localization.
Adnan Dalgakıran said that textile machinery manufacturers had exports of 750 million dollars in 2018, while the Turkish textile industry imported 1.9 billion dollars’ worth of machinery. Dalgakıran noted that acting together, textile and machinery manufacturers, have set their aim’s first stage; the import of 500 million dollars of textile machinery through domestic facilities. In this respect, the importance of developing cross-sectoral projects to effectively utilize public R&D and localization support programs was mentioned.
MAKFED and TEMSAD
It was stated that favouring Turkish textile machines with competitive power as quality, technology and price would have a positive effect on the foreign trade deficit at the meeting. The equal growth and development of both industries would affect each other positively. Organization of TEMSAD pioneered B2B meetings were decided; in leading textile production cities such as Istanbul Bursa, Gaziantep, Denizli, and Kahramanmaraş.
MAKFED was founded in order to contribute to the advancement of Turkish machinery manufacturing industry with other sub-sectors; to increase global competitiveness and to increase cooperation among sectors. The federation, which hosts 20 member machinery associations from many sectors, also focuses on improving professional competence and awareness levels.
TEMSAD had signed a protocol to increase the use of domestic-oriented machine; with the Fashion and Apparel Federation in 2017 (MHGF); and at the end of 2018 with Turkish Textile and Finishing Industrialists Association (TTTSD).
