German textile machinery manufacturer Trützschler has donated an autoleveller draw frame to the Department of Textile Engineering at Ege University’s Faculty of Engineering for use in education and research activities. With the donation, the laboratory and practical training infrastructure of the department’s Short Staple Spinning Pilot Plant has been upgraded to the level of current production technologies.
The newly installed draw frame will enable students to gain hands-on experience with short staple spinning processes using state-of-the-art production technologies. The machine is also expected to support postgraduate research projects as well as university-industry collaborations.

Prof. Dr. Zümrüt Bahadır Ünal, Head of the Department of Textile Engineering at Ege University’s Faculty of Engineering, said the new machine represents a significant addition to the department’s academic and practical work in the field of short staple spinning. “The donated draw frame will enable our students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through exposure to current production technologies, while also enhancing the technical capacity of our undergraduate and graduate-level scientific research. The equipment will provide a strong infrastructure for collaborative projects with industry and will further strengthen Ege University’s partnerships with the textile industry,” Ünal said.
Ünal also thanked all Trützschler executives, especially Christoph Weber, General Manager of Trützschler Textile Machinery, and Sema Altay, Finance and Controlling Manager, for their support throughout the planning and implementation of the project and added:
“I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our esteemed colleague, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Kadoğlu, who, thanks to his strong relationship with Trützschler, invited company representatives to our department and made significant contributions to both the donation and installation of the machine. I believe that this collaboration will make a long-term contribution to improving the quality of textile engineering education in Türkiye and providing our students with early exposure to industrial applications.”
