Bursa Textile Show 2018 Exceeds Expectations
Bursa Textile Show 2018 Exceeds Expectations

Bursa Textile Show 2018, held in one of the traditional textile cities Bursa, contributed to the creation of employment by gathering local manufacturers under one roof.

Bursa Textile Show 2018, which was organized for the first time this year with the support of Uludağ Textile Exporters’ Association (UTİB) under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, managed to meet the expectations of the industry representatives. The fair started with the participation of more than 80 Bursa-based companies in its first year. Companies exhibiting 2019-20 autumn/winter collections attracted great interest from the visitors. Having more than 5,000 business meetings with nearly 350 foreign buyers from 50 countries, the fair has paved the way for important collaborations.

Bursa Textile Show 2018 strengthens the industry

Evaluating the fair, BTSO Vice Chairman İsmail Kuş said that BTSO has organized four separate delegation activities, supported by the Ministry of Commerce in the scope of the Textile UR-GE project (supporting the development of international competitiveness). Noting that they have welcomed close to 1,000 foreign buyers with the delegation activities to Bursa and match them with the project companies to make bilateral business meetings, İsmail Kuş emphasized that the activity is organized for the first time in a fair format this year. Indicating that every company attending the fair has an average of 60 business interviews, Kuş expressed that approximately 50 percent of the interviews have the potential to have a positive result.

Stating that Bursa Textile Show added great strength to the textile industry, Vice Chairman İsmail Kuş emphasized that the fair provided an important synergy to the industry and added; “The lack of a fair organization for the industry in Bursa, known as the capital of textile, was a major shortcoming. Our firms often participate in fairs organized mainly in Istanbul or abroad. The fact that we started such an organization in Bursa is very valuable for the future of the industry. I would like to thank all of companies attending the fair.”

Important business contacts have been established

Chairman of the BTSO 39th Professional Committee and Fabra Tekstil Chairman of the Board Engin Alemdar; said that important business contacts have been established with qualified purchase delegates attending the fair. Alemdar emphasized that the fair was highly productive; “Everything went much better than we planned. It was a pinpoint fair. There were nearly 350 foreign business people attending the fair with the organization of our Chamber and the Ministry of Commerce; as well as foreign buyers coming to Bursa from different countries with their own means. Several companies have already promised to participate to the second edition of the fair; that we will organize next year in April”.

Business people from countries such as Colombia, India, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Brazil and Canada participated in the fair; which attracted great interest from European countries, particularly Russia, Belarus and Serbia. Amelia Rosa Visser, who attended the fair from Cape Town, South Africa; stated that she came to Bursa for the second time and said;

“I participated in the bilateral business meetings held in March last year. I was impressed by the products I saw there and I wanted to participate in Bursa Textile Show this year. It was quite an exciting experience. I will continue to visit this fair in the coming years”. Diana Walkiewicz, who participated in the fair from Poland, emphasized that the exhibition was very well organized and said; “When we compared it to Paris, we found everything we were looking for even though it is a smaller fair. Bursa has very high quality and affordable textile products”.

The next Bursa Textile Show will be held on 2-4 April 2019 at Merinos Atatürk Cultural Center.
