Kordsa publishes interactive sustainability report. Kordsa continues market studies and investments with their vision ‘We Reinforce Life’, and published their fifth sustainability report. Providing reinforcement technologies and solutions to the global market as a company, Kordsa’s report shows the sustainability performance of Kordsa in 2018 in comparison with previous years and includes priority sustainability topics such as the managerial, economic, social and environmental activity targets, actions taken, development that has been obtained and the exemplary practices developed by the employees.

In 2018 Sustainability Report, unlike previous years, tire reinforcement and composite technologies’ value chains and sustainability impacts were included in schemes. The report, which has been made in a more summarized and focused way compared to previous years, included the results and gains of R&D and total productive maintenance (TPM) projects that serve sustainability targets. In addition, the content of the report has been enriched with supportive web site, documents and links to videos for easier and more practical access to information.

In the presentation part of the report, Cenk Alper, Chairman of the Board of Kordsa, mentioned the activities carried out in 2018 and underlined the following; “As Kordsa, we realize our sustainability commitments based on Sabancı Group’s ‘Sabancı of the New Generation’ vision; and managing the economic, social and environmental impacts of all our operations in-line with targets”.

Ali Çalışkan, CEO of Kordsa, said in his presentation; “Recognizing that the first step of sustainability is to ensure our own sustainability; we always prioritize the development, health and safety of our employees”. Çalışkan talked about the improvement of business processes and product developments in his message.

Kordsa publishes interactive sustainability report: Kordsa’s patent portfolio grew by 22%

According to the Sustainability report covering the period between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018, placing R&D and innovation on the basis of business processes, Kordsa increased their patent portfolio by 22% from 2017 to 2018. As a result of their efforts to produce lighter and more durable tire; and composite materials with less energy and materials; Kordsa has reached 670 patent applications and 183 inventions as of the end of 2018. In 2018, the turnover from new products was 64 million USD. The reinforcement giant saved about 1.82 million USD by reusing approximately 3 million coils through recovery steps. Environmental investments worth of 790 thousand USD were realized through emission management, waste management and training. The company attaches great importance to their employees; and provided them with an average of 36 hours of training and reduced employee turnover by 1%.

In 2016, Kordsa was admitted to the BIST Sustainability Index; which includes companies listed on the Borsa Istanbul and with high corporate sustainability performances. The company improved its rating in the BIST Sustainability Index in terms of environmental criteria; and entered its third year in this index in November 2018-October 2019 period.
