Zero Chemical Waste in Fabric Finishing with TexCoat G4 - Simone Morellini
Zero Chemical Waste in Fabric Finishing with TexCoat G4 – Simone Morellini

Textile finishing technologies developer Baldwin Technology Company Inc. introduced the textile finishing technology TexCoat G4 at ITMA 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. The new solution, which provides total process control while increasing sustainability, is defined as the next-generation contactless precision application system. The Baldwin Technology booth in Hall 2 attracted a lot of attention from fabric manufacturers, especially the finishing manufacturers.

Simone Morellini, Baldwin Technology Sales Manager for Mediterranean Countries, who gave an interview to Textilegence at the fair, also provided information about TexCoat G4. Stating that the most basic feature of the system is zero chemical waste, Morellini said that the consumption of water and energy has been significantly reduced. Morellini; “Developed for a greener future in fabric finishing, TexCoat G4 is able to consistently achieve high-quality and efficient finishing. In other words, there is no compromise on quality and efficiency while driving it forward”.

Morellini explained that the zero chemical waste concept has become a reality with contactless spraying technology; “We have developed this fourth generation of TexCoat in a special plan. We recover 100% of the excess sprayed chemical by draining back to our pump station. Our customer can take the chemical in 5 to 7 litre buckets and use it again in the process. There is a double profit here, both in terms of chemical costs and the environment”.

Stating that the chemical is distributed homogeneously throughout the fabric thanks to the contactless spray system of TexCoat G4, Morellini said that the chemical is applied to the defined surfaces as much as desired.

Zero chemical waste in fabric finishing with TexCoat G4: Sustainability is the driving force in developing new solutions

Simone Morellini emphasized that they are focused on sustainability as a company and stated that the demand for more environment-friendly technology is encouraging them and they are focusing on this subject through their R&D process. Morellini continued as follows;

“We see that sustainability is an important issue for textile, the second most polluting industry worldwide. That is why we have set the way to offer more environmentally friendly solutions in finishing technologies. In particular, it is vital to reduce the amount of water, chemicals and energy used during the finishing process. Important steps need to be taken to lower these rates which are at very high levels. The TexCoat G4 represents an important step. As only the necessary amount of chemistry is applied to the fabric, a reduced wet pick-up level of 50% can be achieved. The use of less chemicals and water provides a much faster drying process. The result is a 50% savings in chemical, water and energy consumption”.

Noting that ITMA is a very important event for them, Morellini reminded that TexCoat G4 is making its world debut. Morellini; “At ITMA 2019, visitors had the opportunity to examine TexCoat G4 and other solutions closely. It was the perfect time to meet and introduce our customers around the world. We are ready to present this innovative technology to the global textile market with our worldwide marketing infrastructure”.

Turkey became the first market outside Italy

Simone Morellini said that the Turkish textile industry has a strong structure and market, and emphasized that, as Baldwin Technology, they give great importance to this market. Indicating that Turkey was their first market after Italy, Morellini therefore noted that they have many important installations throughout Turkey. Morellini concluded his words as follows; “In addition to volumetric growth, the Turkish textile industry is improving its standards. Environment and human health sensitive textile process is now at the core of the investments. As Baldwin Technology, we will continue our efforts to provide these finishing solutions to the Turkish textile industry. We hope to reach higher market volumes together”.
