Ismail Gulle has become the new president of Turkish Exporters Assembly after receiving 149 of 398 delegate’s vote. Gülle took over from Mehmet Büyükekşi who said ‘the time is for the guards to change’.
One of Turkey’s leading textile manufactures, İsmail Gülle was elected as the new president of Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM). Gülle declared victory after receiving 149 of 398 delegate’s vote in the 25th general assembly of TİM. After the election, Gülle said; “From now on, I will carry this responsibility in your best interest. The office will shrink, while the services will grow.” In the general assembly of TİM, which has approximately 71 thousand members, 27 industry council heads were also appointed as well.
TİM’s 25th general assembly, held at the Golden Horn Cultural Center, saw a high level participation from the state protocol as well as the delegates. Tahsin Öztirkayi and Oğuz Satıcı competed besides İsmail Gülle for the presidency. While Öztiryaki received 140 votes and Satıcı 109, Gülle got 149 votes and left behind his opponents. Thus he took over the TİM Presidency fromMehmet Büyükekşi, who has been in the presidency for 10 years. Büyükekşi didn’t join the race this time, and said ‘the time is for the guards to change’.
The office will shrink, while the services will grow
New TİM President Ismail Gulle, said in his speech to the delegates after the election; “From now on, I will carry this responsibility in your best interest. The office will shrink, while the services will grow. Nobody will stay outside of the game.” Gülle stated that he would make TİM a very different institution as he promised; “I have served in every position of TİM for 20 years. We will be more powerful, proactive and creative from now on. The winner is the exporter.” Gülle defined their primary goals as; creating a vision for the breakthroughs that would bring the value of the export to 4 USD a kilogram.
Who is Ismail Gulle?
İsmail Gülle was born in 1960 in Sivas, and completed his primary and secondary education in the same city. After his graduation from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1982; Gülle completed his specialization program at Istanbul University Business Administration Institute. In 1970, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gülle Entegre Tekstil İşletmeleri A.Ş.; which was founded by his father the late Halis Gülle.
İsmail Gülle has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors between 2003 and 2018, following his duty as a member of Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (İTHİB) Board of Directors between 1999 and 2003. Handing the presidency of İTHİB over in the past month, Gülle has been active in many commissions and subgroups within TİM.
Ismail Gulle, who has made significant contributions to education and cultural life in Sivas and its provinces, is married and has two children.
