In August last year, a significant change was made in the management level of Yünsa, the leading woollen fabric manufacturer of Europe, which Sabancı Holding sold to Sürmegöz Tekstil. Mustafa Sürmegöz, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors in Yünsa, was brought to the General Management of the company with the decision of the Board of Directors. Making a statement, Sürmegöz thanked former General Manager Nuri Düzgören for his services to Yünsa. Sürmegöz explained that they were in an intensive working period as management after taking over Yünsa.

Expressing that they are focusing on areas open to development for Yünsa in this period, Mustafa Sürmegöz noted that they improved their problems in the fields of production and finance. Sürmegöz said: “Today, Yünsa has a problem-free financial position as well as a leader position in its sector with its brand value. We continue to increase our production power, speed, diversity and quality with our investments in departments that require technological innovation in our machinery. With the awareness that our employees, customers and investors are part of the Yünsa family, we focused on efficiency and profitability to continue earning together. It is very important for us to ensure financial sustainability of Yünsa as a national brand that contributes to the Turkish economy in the future as it has so far”.

Yünsa will present the 2021-22 Autumn Winter Collection digitally

Mustafa Sürmegöz stated that the design team continues to offer the best solution according to the needs of the industry. Noting that the collections could not be physically delivered to the customers due to the coronavirus outbreak, Sürmegöz therefore informed that the 2021-22 Autumn Winter collection was digitally prepared. Sürmegöz; “As Yünsa, our technological infrastructure is sufficient for such a work. We will present our new digital collection we have prepared to all our international customers starting from June. We focus on turning digitalization into a tool that creates value for our customers”.

Production starts again at Yünsa

Mustafa Sürmegöz announced that production will resume gradually on April 27 in Yünsa; where production was suspended on April 1 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Sürmezgöz continued, saying that the economy and naturally the textile sector were affected by the outbreak; “Turkish textile is one of the most important export and employment sectors in the country. Since the countries most affected by the outbreak are also the markets that are exported extensively; it is extremely important to include our sector in the Economic Stability Shield Package; planned and implemented by our President and government”. Sürmegöz added that the crisis also brought the issue of sustainability stronger in the fashion world.

Born in 1968, Mustafa Sürmegöz graduated from Kabataş High School in 1985; and from Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration in 1989. After studying foreign language for a while in London; Sürmegöz started his career in the textile industry in 1991; and has been continuing his professional life by working; as a senior manager in the woollen fabric industry for 29 years. Mustafa Sürmegöz is one of the partners of Sürmegöz Tekstil; which bought Yünsa operating under Sabancı Holding at the end of 2019.
