Based in Bursa, Türkiye, Kızılırmak Tekstil has operated in the curtain fabrics sector for more than 40 years and continues to strengthen its position in home textiles through integrated production investments and collaboration with Itema. Transitioning from a curtain base fabric supplier into a fully integrated curtain manufacturer, the company has significantly expanded its weaving capacity since 2021 through successive Itema investments. Today, Kızılırmak Tekstil carries out production from yarn to final packaging across its two integrated facilities in Bursa, while maintaining a strong presence in export markets.

The foundations of Kızılırmak Tekstil were laid in Istanbul in 1984 by Yaşar Şahin and his brothers. In its early years, the company operated across several textile segments including tulle, tracksuit fabrics and footwear auxiliary materials. Over time, it developed strong expertise particularly in curtain base fabrics and expanded its market position through fast and customer-oriented production solutions.

Kızılırmak Tekstil Assistant Production Manager Yunus Emre Şahin said that 2021 marked a major turning point for the company, stating: “At that point, both increasing customer demands and our active involvement as the second generation in the business created the need for new investments. As our first major investment step, we decided to invest in weaving. This decision was especially important for us because until then, our company had existed in the market primarily as a curtain base supplier. From that moment on, we transitioned into becoming a final curtain manufacturer.”

Kızılırmak Tekstil’s partnership with Itema also began during this transformation process. Şahin stated that following extensive market research and consultations with experienced industry professionals, the company selected Itema as its weaving technology partner and placed its first order of 24 weaving machines in 2021. He added that continued satisfaction with the machines and the mutual trust between the two companies led to a second investment of another 24 machines in 2023. Most recently, the company further strengthened its machine park by adding 24 R9500EVO weaving machines after the model’s introduction at the ITMA ASIA + CITME Singapore trade fair in 2025.

“R9500 series as indispensable for LENO-style weaving applications”

Kızılırmak Tekstil primarily focuses on polyester sheer curtain production while also continuing R&D activities in drapery fabrics. Şahin emphasized that Itema weaving machines enable the company to weave a wide variety of yarn types and deniers with high precision, allowing the development of technically advanced and aesthetically distinctive fabrics. He also described the R9500 series as indispensable for leno-style weaving applications due to its performance and quality standards.

Speaking about the R9500EVO series, Şahin highlighted stable production performance, low downtime, user-friendly operation and ergonomic machine design among its strongest advantages. Summarizing the partnership, he described Itema as “reliable, innovative and efficient.”
