Fashion Week Istanbul was held digitally for the third time this year, on October 12-15 and presented 29 short films that bring fashion and visual art together, on digital platforms. In addition to the collections of famous designers, the short films showing the designs were met with great interest by those who follow the shows all over the world.

Organized with the main sponsorship of Dell Technologies and the supply sponsorship of Altier Academy, Swissotel Bosphorus and Onedio, the exhibition also broke new ground this year; As part of Fashion Week Istanbul 2021, Fashion Week Istanbul presents Istanbul State of Mind exhibition brought together several names from the fashion and art world with a gala dinner. The visitors had the opportunity to watch the exhibition curated by Kerimcan Güleryüz also in the same area before the gala dinner.

A lot of different collections met with fashion lovers at the Fashion Week Istanbul

Fashion Week Istanbul started the season with the New Gen by IMA fashion show. Mehmet Emiroğlu, Selen Akyüz, Y Plus By Yakup Biçer, Arzu Kaprol, TAGG, Dilek Hanif and DICE KAYEK collections were presented to the audience with short films throughout the day. Opening the podium with Özlem Erkan on the second day, the exhibition continued to bring together the collections of Mert Erkan, Çiğdem Akın, Niyazi Erdoğan, Gül Ağış, Nihan Peker and Mehtap Elaidi with fashion lovers.

The opening of the third day took place with the fashion show of Murat Aytulum, the designer of the ‘BE LIKE DIANA’ collection, which was inspired by the style of a princess who said “I never live my life by the book. My heart guides me, not my mind”. Tuğba Atasoy, who participated in Fashion Week Istanbul for the first time this year, took the podium after Murat Aytulum. Successful designers NEJ, RED BEARD by Tanju Babacan, Emre Erdemoğlu, DB BERDAN and Özgür Masur were the names that ended the third day.

The last day of the exhibition was opened with the Karma by IMA fashion show

The podium opened with the Karma by IMA fashion show on the last day of Fashion Week Istanbul. Young designers from Istanbul Fashion Academy Fashion Design and Technology Undergraduate and Master Class: Fashion Design graduates took part here. Then, the fashion movie of the SBNM ‘La Piscine’ collection, a brand of Şebnem Günay was screened. In the collection, inspired by the designer’s own memories, the endless and timeless details that emerged from the combination of innovative, lively textures, sports-couture cuts, strong silhouettes and iconic colours drew attention. Besides, designer Gökhan Yavaş presented his collection named ‘IMBAT’, inspired by the beautiful memories of his childhood, to fashion lovers.

The sustainable designs at the exhibition

Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu DEMI-COUTURE ‘Euphoria’ collection, inspired by the enthusiasm and energy experienced after the pandemic and prepared by Nedret & Yasemin Taciroğlu, took part at the exhibition with pieces with feminine and striking details reflecting timeless designs. Ceren Ocak has created a multi-coloured collection in her new season designs that represent hope and, in a way, the exit from the pandemic that has affected our lives deeply for two years. In the collection, published under the title ‘Lilac / Out of the Dark’, the dominance of vibrant colours such as mint, lilac, yellow, fuchsia and orange drew attention.

Sudi Etuz presented her collection, inspired by the Legend of Anavarza rising from her hometown Adana and included tulle, sustainable denim fabrics, linen, and recycled polyester scallops. While Özlem Kaya brings the past to the present with her Spring-Summer 2022 collection, she also shared timeless pieces for the coming years with fashion lovers as part of Fashion Week Istanbul.

Organized by the Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association (İHKİB), Fashion Week Istanbul is supported by the Türkiye Promotion Group (TTG), which was established under the leadership of the Turkish Ministry of Trade, under the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM). It is carried out in cooperation with the Fashion Designers Association (MTD) and the Istanbul Fashion Academy (IMA).
