DuPont Introduces Artistri® P2700 Pigment Ink at ITMA – Asuman Yazıcı

DuPont Advanced Printing (DuPont) introduced the new pigment ink Artistri® P2700 under the Artistri brand in the field of inkjet printing at the ITMA 2019. DuPont, with a history of more than 200 years, offers significant advantages to textile print manufacturers with their pigment ink Artistri® P2700, which was introduced to the textile industry for the first time in addition to disperse and sublimation inks.

In addition to the pigment ink P2700, the DuPont booth included DuPont™ Artistri® S1500 for sublimation printing and DuPont™ Artistri® D2500 for disperse printing. DuPont Turkey, Middle East and Russia Area Manager Asuman Yazici, whom we talked about their participation in the exhibition, said they have welcomed visitors from textile heavy regions. Stating that Turkish textiles, as well as Egypt and Pakistani visitors, are predominant, Yazıcı said that during the exhibition, officials from all regions of DuPont were present at the booth and informed the visitors.

Yazıcı said; “At ITMA, we tried especially to get together with end users. We want to serve them better by understanding their needs. ITMA was very useful for us in this sense. We talked about new ideas and new projects can be carried out together with visitors from Turkey, where we have a strong new product sales and service network”.

Reminding that DuPont is a group that addresses several industries, Yazıcı argued that this segment will increase in weight for the group, considering the digital printing industry grows by 15-20% annually on quantity basis. She underlined that DuPont has been in the textile inks industry for many years and said that pigment printing has developed rapidly and they focused on this issue.

DuPont increases quality and productivity with P2700 in pigment printing

The new pigment ink Artistri® P2700 responds to customers’ demands in a wide range of areas, from home textiles to garments, providing excellent colour saturation and image clarity. A medium viscosity ink, Artistri® P2700 has been developed to meet the requirements of sustainable printing. Reactive printing has decreased due to both the complexity and length of the process as well as the negative effects on the environment according to Asuman Yazıcı; “Pigment printing continues to grow in the market with a share of the reactive and other printing methods. The demand for printing with water-based inks is developing as a trend, leaving a lower environmental footprint. As DuPont, we provide solutions to the textile industry with our water-based paints. Although we have reactive and acid printing inks; I can specify inks that we stand out in the market as pigment, disperse and sublimation”.

Saying that the new pigment ink, at the same time, aims to eliminate the post-treatment, Yazıcı pointed out that work efficiency can be improved. Yazıcı explained that the studies on this subject have been going on for 2 years; “In order to make this technology a little more fit for the market; a lot of trials are needed to be done. The first trials were both held in Turkey and around the world. With successful results, we are now at the stage of production and marketing”.

Noting that the P2700 is ideal for both direct textile printing and roll-to-roll printing; Yazıcı said that this ink, which is a binder-containing product; achieves better fabric fastness compared to several competitors on the market. Yazıcı; “The P2700 is a highly developed ink in terms of the softness of the fabrics; and the brightness of the colours, the quality of the resolution of the print and the long service life after washing. As our other inks have, the necessary certification processes for the environment and human health continues”.

Demand for pigment ink is constantly growing

Asuman Yazıcı pointed out that the demand for pigment ink is constantly increasing in the market and said that this solution; which is a technology friendly to environment and human health, has a wide usage area. Yazıcı continued her words as follows;

“In particular, manufacturers of baby clothing prefer pigment inks. There is much less chemical treatment than other inks. Water-based ink has no harm to the skin and human health. Demand for this ink is increasing in adult clothing as well as baby clothing. It gives successful results in home textiles and bed linen products. Fashion is changing very quickly. More intense pastel colours and the concept of sustainability will increase the demand for pigment inks. As DuPont, we have a very serious customer profile in Turkey. We are strong in traditional textile hubs such as Bursa in baby clothing; Istanbul in adult clothing and Denizli and Çorlu in home textiles”.

Yazıcı pointed out to pigment for their fastest growth expectation in textile printing; and said the development of the disperse market still continues, whereas sublimation solutions also saw a significant demand. Yazıcı stated that printing on polyester and polyester blended fabrics feeds the demand for sublimation; “The product portfolio of the major brands of fashion and retail is made almost 80% of polyester. Dye sublimation (dye-sub) prints are predominant in this area. With this method you can print on any kind of fabric”.
